About

Welcome to our collection of blogs. Over many years, we have written about numerous topics. What started as a personal blog for family and friends, turned into multiple blogs for...well, all kinds of people.

A Family Blog

Our personal blog is what started this writing journey. Matt had only dabbled at this point (so it only barely counts), and Chrissy wanted to start a sort of journal, but one that our family and friends could keep up with or reference. She was scrapbooking and wanted to embrace digital information.

Liwovien

An environmentally aware blog emerged as we realized that friends, family, and newly met acquaintances asked us how (and why) we took certain actions, bought certain products, and generally approached our decisions concerning being responsible Earth citizens. The articles we aspired to write were not to be judgmental. Our goal was simply to "live without violating the environment."

Interestingly, this is the blog where we began writing about fitness. As we traveled the road that is P90X, we started documenting our notable experiences with the program. Soon, we turned to writing about ways to hack the expensive market of pre- and post-workout consumables. Our post on chocolate milk as a recovery drink was so popular Matt was answering comments daily, leading to even more articles covering the longer responses. These articles later moved to a dedicated fitness blog, Fit Freeq.

Alter Your Surroundings

Another offshoot of the personal blog that Chrissy was writing a ton for, Alter Your Surroundings had a theme of interior design, organization, and minimalism. She posted many photos, project walk-throughs, and other things she would get herself into. Owning a professional organizing company for a few years and always helping family and friends with their projects to reduce clutter, Chrissy wanted to share her passion with others.

Geek Freeq

Geekdom is something we should be proud of! This blog had all sorts of geek-related content. From gaming articles to programming woes, geek culture to tech responsibility, IT stigmas to hidden patterns in life; you never knew what the next post would present. Matt wanted to live in this corner and just write about so many topics on his mind. A few posts were published, and several drafts started, but a busy career stifled this outlet.

Fit Freeq

Fit Freeq was to be a site dedicated to fitness learning. We already researched so many concepts and products for ourselves. Why not publish our findings, opinions, and recommendations? If it related to fitness and showed any promise to the greater community, we wanted to research it. That is somewhat vague, but there is a lot of information and products out there regarding fitness. It’s hard to get to it all. We wanted to approach the sea of information with a methodical approach that attempts to see through the hype.

This is also where the fitness articles from Liwovien found a new home.

Greymalkin

We are animal lovers. For the past 25 years (~2000), we've consistently had cats in our family. All the years before that, we both had dogs and cats in our lives. Greymalkin started when we brought home our latest (at the time) adopted kittens, Kora and Kyle. The idea was to write about their escapades, of which there were/are many. Additionally, there is a corresponding YouTube channel.

Life became an extreme challenge soon after these two beauties entered it. They provided some of those challenges (Kora is epileptic) but mostly other factors distracted us from this one.

Connect

The blog to pull it all together was Connect. One of Chrissy's annual words, "connect", was the household motto. Instead of maintaining a seventh blog (hosting, software upgrades, theme designs, server patches, logins, etc.), we decided to welcome the concept of "connect" and bring all the blogs together.

So, here we are!
